With the rise in popularity of expensive bicycles, storage and safety have become an issue. Bikes stored one on top of the other in a garage or hanging from a ceiling can be dangerous for small children or can fall and damage not only the bike, but an expensive automobile or truck. The PBS-2R Racor Bike Stand will securely store two bikes in either direction and can be used indoors or can be secured outside the home to safely store your bikes. The Stand is easy for children to use and the tubular steel construction with its durable epoxy finish will give you many years of dependable service. --C. Dwight Barnett

Took about five minutes to get it together. Held my 26" mountain bike just fine. I recently bought a new 26" MTB with disc brakes. The good news is that the disc rotors 'just barely' clear the support arms on this stand. You do have to futz with the bike's position on the stand a bit or the bike will 'lean' slightly on the rotor, but it isn't that hard to make it work. The bad news is that the support arm pairs are too close together to allow two mountain bikes of the same frame size to coexist peacefully in the same orientation. With front wheels inserted into the frame the handlebars clash big time. It works better if one bike has the front wheel in the frame and the other the rear wheel. The handlebar of one bike will still contact the seat of the other bike, but a simple turn of the handlebar on the outward-facing bike fixes this. This stand was obviously designed for two road bikes side-by-side, not MTBs. It would probably also be OK with... It's solidly made, and heavy enough to keep a pair of bikes standing upright.Who needs it? Anyone with kids, I think. Getting kids to park their bikes somewhere that (1) you won't back over them with the car (2) you won't trip over them coming out of the house is always a struggle; just getting them to do something other than simply drop them on the ground where they got off can be a major task. This stand makes that task just a little easier by providing a fixed place to stash the bikes with little or no effort. Place one on the back porch and one in the garage and you'll always know where the bikes are. Oh, and if you're an adult with a lot of bike riding friends, place one or two by your side door. Your friends will appreciate it! 24 of 25 people found the following review helpful: By J.M. (michigan) - See all my reviews This review is from: Racor PBS-2R Two-Bike Floor Bike Stand (Tools & Home Improvement) Doesn't fit my 26 inch mountain bike. If I put the front tire in it hits the disc brake, If I put the back tire in it hits the derailleur. It looks like it is sturdy and would work well with other types of bikes, just wanted to let people with disc brakes know that they should pick a different stand. |
